- Modern Warfare 4 DMZ free access: DMZ is a core mode of Modern Warfare 4, which launches October 23, 2026.
- No standalone free DMZ: There is no separate free-to-play DMZ client announced for launch.
- Official free paths: Beta access, platform trials, and promotional windows are the legitimate free routes.
- Avoid fake free-code sites: MW4 DMZ has no in-game promo code system, so unlimited-code generators are scams.
- Free-to-play alternative: Call of Duty's free Warzone platform remains the no-cost entry to the franchise.
Is Modern Warfare 4 DMZ Free to Play?
Modern Warfare 4 DMZ free access is the single most common question ahead of launch. Based on official information, DMZ is a persistent extraction mode built into Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4, not a standalone free download. The game launches on October 23, 2026 across PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PC, and Switch 2, and DMZ sits alongside Campaign and Multiplayer as one of the core modes.
That means the realistic answer is: DMZ itself is included with the game, and any free path to playing it depends on how you access Modern Warfare 4 — beta periods, trials, subscriptions, or promotional access. There is no officially announced free-to-play DMZ client comparable to how Warzone operates.
| Access Path | Cost | Availability | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Full game purchase | Paid | October 23, 2026 onward | Includes Campaign, Multiplayer, and DMZ |
| Beta access | Free (with access method) | Pre-launch windows | Tied to account, platform, or qualifying purchase |
| Platform trials / subscriptions | Varies by platform | Post-launch, rotating | Check Xbox, PlayStation, and PC platform offers |
| Free-to-play Warzone | Free | Ongoing | Separate mode; not the MW4 DMZ experience |
| Third-party "free DMZ codes" | Claimed free | N/A | Not legitimate; no in-game code system exists |
No official source distributes "free DMZ unlock codes." Any site requesting surveys, downloads, account credentials, or payment in exchange for free Modern Warfare 4 DMZ access is a scam. Use only official Call of Duty and platform channels.
Official Free Access Channels
The reliable ways to experience Modern Warfare 4 DMZ without buying at full price follow predictable patterns. Each channel ties entitlement to your account rather than a redeemable code.
Beta Access
- Tied to official access methods
- Requires the intended play account
- Rewards may carry over per official terms
Platform Offers
- Xbox, PlayStation, Steam entitlements
- Trials and subscription catalogs
- Check regional availability
Account Linking
- Link platform to Call of Duty account
- Ensures bonuses reach the right profile
- Required for pre-order rewards
| Channel | What You Get | How It Works |
|---|---|---|
| Official beta | Early DMZ play before launch | Access distributed through official announcements |
| Pre-order bonus | Vault Edition items, platform incentives | Delivered via purchase entitlement |
| Account linking | Bonus content on correct profile | Connect platform account in Call of Duty account settings |
| Platform trials | Limited free play windows | Varies by platform and region |
Before any beta or trial window, confirm your platform account and Call of Duty account are linked. Missing entitlements are usually a linking issue, not a lost reward.
Step-by-Step: Getting Ready for Free Access
Follow this sequence to make sure you are positioned for every legitimate free access window.
Create and secure your Call of Duty account
Register through the official website, enable security features, and use this account consistently across every platform you play on.
Link your platform accounts
Connect PlayStation, Xbox, Steam, or other platform accounts so entitlements, beta access, and pre-order rewards land on the correct profile.
Monitor official announcements
Follow the official Call of Duty blog and platform channels for beta dates, trial windows, and promotional access to Modern Warfare 4 DMZ.
Claim access through the official channel only
Redeem or activate access exactly as instructed by the platform or publisher. Never enter credentials on third-party sites.
Verify rewards in game
After eligibility is applied, restart the game and check the account-linked reward section or inventory.
Legitimate access never requires your password, one-time codes, or recovery codes shared with a third party. Anyone asking for these is attempting account theft.
Free Access vs. Buying Modern Warfare 4
If your goal is specifically the DMZ extraction experience in the Hajin Exclusion Zone, compare what each option actually delivers.
| Factor | Free Access Paths | Full MW4 Purchase |
|---|---|---|
| DMZ access | Limited windows only | Full persistent access |
| Progression | Often temporary | Carries across sessions |
| Story Missions | Rarely available in trials | Complete access |
| Weapon persistence | Trial-dependent | Insured weapons and variants |
| Cost | Free | Standard edition pricing |
The DMZ loop rewards persistence: gear, weapon states, and progression are designed to carry between deployments. Free trial windows are excellent for sampling the mode, but players who want to build a loadout library and progress Story Missions will get far more value from owning the game.
Unlike Multiplayer, DMZ is a persistent extraction experience: deploy into Hajin, loot, complete objectives, and extract to keep what you earned. Elimination can cost the items carried during that deployment.
Pre-Launch Readiness Checklist
Before Free Access Windows Open:
- Call of Duty account created and secured
- All platform accounts linked
- Official blog and platform channels followed
- Beta access instructions reviewed
- Fake code sites identified and avoided
Watch for: promises of unlimited working codes, requests for account passwords or authentication codes, forced downloads or extensions, and claims that a code bypasses platform ownership. None of these are official redemption channels.
